Esmeralda is a clean, versatile decaf from Mexico, processed using the Ethyl Acetate (EA) method — a naturally derived decaffeination approach that uses a compound found in sugarcane to gently remove caffeine while preserving the coffee's character. The result is a cup that doesn't taste like a compromise.

EA Decaffeination: Unlike chemical-heavy methods, EA processing relies on ethyl acetate — an organic compound naturally occurring in fruits and sugarcane — to extract caffeine. The green coffee is steamed to open its pores, then repeatedly washed in an EA solution until caffeine levels drop below the required threshold. The beans are then steamed again to remove any residual solvent. It's one of the gentlest decaf processes available, and it shows in the cup: you get real coffee flavor without the caffeine.

Cupping notes: Lighter roasts bring a lemony crispness that's rare for a decaf, while the mid-range delivers sweet caramel and green apple with a gentle herbal-chocolate contrast. This is a decaf that earns its place on the shelf.
